New Technology: Honda says brain waves control robot?

Honda Research Institute Japan Co. President Tomohiko Kawanabe flashes a V-sign as he explains Honda's new robotic technology researched with ATR Computational Neuroscience Laboratories in Tokyo Wednesday, May 24, 2006. Patterns of the changes in the brain taken by an MRI machine, shown on the screen at left, which are used in hospitals to take images of the brain, were relayed to a robotic hand, at front. A person in the MRI machine made a fist, spread his fingers and then made a V-sign. Several seconds later, the robotic hand did the same movements. Honda hopes to some day link a person's thoughts with machines in everyday life.

This Future Asimo's hand is showing a "V-sign" and it was controlled by Human brain signals.

A person in the MRI machine made a fist, spread his fingers and then made a V-sign. Several seconds later, a robotic hand mimicked the movements.

The machine for reading the brain patterns also would have to become smaller and lighter — like a cap that people can wear as they move about, said ATR researcher Yukiyasu Kamitani.

Comments:
I saw that TV news last week, it was really interested me. With this new technology Human can drive a car without using a steering wheels, gear shift knob and breaking padel physically I guess. Besides that it can be used on daily work too, like Typing on computer, households products ....etc....linking a person's thoughts to machines.

Maybe another 10 years from now, our dreams will comes trues.
